Health insurance is mandatory for a residence permit
Turkish PMM (Göç İdaresi) requires valid health insurance as a condition of all residence permit applications. Without it your application will be rejected outright.
The policy must come from a Turkish-licensed insurer. International health insurance — from providers such as Cigna, Aetna, or Allianz Global — is not accepted. If you already hold international cover, you still need a separate Turkish policy for your permit.

Health insurance questions
Can I use my existing international health insurance?
No. The Turkish PMM (Göç İdaresi) only accepts policies issued by Turkish-licensed insurers. International health insurance from providers such as Cigna, Aetna, or Allianz Global will not be accepted for residence permit purposes. You need a policy from a Turkish insurer.
What if my permit is for 2 years — do I need a 2-year policy?
Yes. The policy must cover the full duration of your permit period. Ikamet Sigorta issues multi-year policies or arranges annual renewals with no gap in cover. We ensure there are no lapses that could invalidate your permit.
Can I get health insurance before I have a Turkish address?
A Turkish address is required on the policy document. If you do not yet have a registered address, Ikamet can advise on address registration as part of the wider permit application process. Contact us early and we will guide you through the correct sequence.
What happens if I need to use the insurance?

Is the insurance valid from day one?
