Tourism basis
Most commonRental lease agreement + bank statement showing sufficient funds for the duration of your stay. No property required. Most popular basis for new applicants.
Property ownership
Minimum property value of $200,000 USD, verified by a licensed independent appraiser. In place since October 2023.
Income / bank statement
Demonstrable income or savings of at least ₺9,358 per month per person (2026 PMM guidance). Pension income, passive income, or remote work income all qualify.
Business activity
Active business registration in Turkey or documented business-related reason for extended stay. Suitable for entrepreneurs and company directors.
Education
Valid enrolment at a Turkish educational institution. Permit duration is typically tied to the academic programme length.
Health treatment
Letter from a Turkish medical institution confirming ongoing treatment. Permit duration matched to the treatment period.

Health insurance requirement
All short-term permit applicants must hold a valid Turkish health insurance policy. The policy must be issued by a Turkish insurer, comply with SGK standards, and cover the full duration of the permit period. International or travel insurance policies are not accepted. Ikamet sources compliant policies from multiple providers, starting from approximately $180 per year.

Restricted districts — check before you choose an address
Some districts and mahalles across Turkey have reached the 20% foreigner quota set by the Presidency of Migration Management. Applications submitted at a restricted address will be refused. Istanbul is the most affected city, but restrictions exist in Ankara, Izmir, Bursa, and other provinces too. Ikamet verifies every address before submission — never after.
